ABOUT THE COURSE:

This is a mandatory course for students interested in using digital marketing either as a part of their existing marketing plans or as a new media option for their communication with the outside world of customers and stakeholders. The objective of the course is to sensitize the participants about various facets of digital marketing. The course will unfold the concepts of Digital marketing strategy, online advertising, Pay per Click, Digital Display Advertising, Email Marketing, Inbound Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Mobile/App Marketing, Affiliate Marketing and web analytics etc., with the help of appropriate case studies and examples. After learning this course the participants will be able to visualize the operational and marketing aspects of digital marketing and formulate appropriate strategies in this domain.

Instructor bio

Prof. Saini Das

Prof. Saini Das is a faculty in the Business Analytics and Informaton System area at Vinod Gupta School of Management IIT Kharagpur. She has served as a faculty member at IIM Indore for three years before joining IIT Kharagpur. She also worked as a software engineer at Infosys Technologies Ltd. prior to her PhD. Her major teaching interests and research competencies are in the areas of digital marketing, business analytics, information security risk management in networks, management information systems (MIS), e-commerce technology & applications, data privacy and digital piracy. Prof. Das has taught in many management development programs across industries. She has authored papers in many national and international journals of repute.


Prof. Atanu Ghosh

IIT Kharagpur
Prof. Atanu Ghosh is the Managing Partner of Bluebeaks Solutions engaged in education, research, consulting and training in the digital strategy. Atanu is a serial entrepreneur. He founded and invested in a successful e-commerce venture Salt n Soap in 2013. Salt n Soap was sold at a profitable valuation in 2020. He also founded and invested in a successful IT services company in Kolkata named Nevaeh Technology and served as one of its founding Directors till July 2023 when he sold his stake profitably to other investors. Atanu is in the advisory board of several start-ups and start-up incubators. Atanu is a Visiting or Adjunct Faculty in several leading academic institutions like XLRI, IIM Calcutta, IMI Kolkata, IIM Udaipur, IIM Amritsar, IIT Kharagpur, GIM Goa, IIM Bodhgaya, BITS Pilani, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI Kolkata, Praxis Business School and Globsyn Business School. Atanu has designed and delivered various courses related to data science and analytics, digital marketing, digital transformation and technology management in these institutes of repute. Atanu is an Electrical Engineer from Jadavpur University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: April 24, 2026 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.
Registration url: Announcements will be made when the registration form is open for registrations.
The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 6 assignments out of the total 8 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

Please note that assignments encompass all types (including quizzes, programming tasks, and essay submissions) available in the specific week.

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kharagpur. It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
