ABOUT THE COURSE:

This course explores the disruptive forces of Industry 4.0 and its transformative impact on manufacturing and adjacent sectors. It equips MBA and engineering students—as well as faculty—with strategic and practical knowledge to upgrade their knowledge and skill and as well navigate and lead Industry 4.0 initiatives. Participants will gain a deep understanding of foundational technologies and their applications with list of use cases in domain industry 4.0 technologies such as IoT, AI, digital twins, and additive manufacturing, along with frameworks for digital transformation, governance, and workforce adaptation.

A key highlight of the course is the study of global best practices from 169 nos. World Economic Forum–recognized Lighthouse companies—pioneers in leveraging AI and Industry 4.0 technologies for operational excellence and business augmentation. Drawing from these real-world case studies, as well as insights from leading consulting firms and OEMs, the course blends theory with applied learning. It also integrates frontier topics such as generative AI, intelligent automation, and digital business models to build industry-ready capabilities and enable value chain transformation.

Course will discuss latest trends like Industry 5.0, its key concepts (humancentric, sustainability, resilience) and how global and Indian companies are leveraging.

Prof. Murli Dhar Agrawal

SJMSOM, IIT Bombay
Prof M D Agrawal, visiting faculty, is a thought leader, coach, seasoned speaker and trainer, he has designed an advance certificate course on subject of Digital Innovation and transformation for enterprises, over 220 no of senior CIOs, CDOs, Consultants and academicians got benefitted. He believes in developing leadership pipeline for managing digital strategy in the organizations and now MSMEs.

Since last 13 years, Prof Agrawal is associated with premier institutes like SJMSOM, IITB. He is former adjunct professor of IIM Mumbai and IIT Gandhinagar.

He is former General Manager IT and (CIO) of Downstream –BPCL, india’s Second oil major and also served TCS as Advisor and Director Downstream for Global Oil practices during 2014 to 2019. He is also associated with All India Management Association as course director and with Confederation Indian industry - CII and helping members in imparting knowledge of latest technology trends and AI thru organizing Masterclass.

With his vast contribution for imparting numerous courses and short workshops, both students and working professional, Higher Education Forum honoured him with Academic Excellence award in year 2022.

He is passionate, keep researching latest subjects and wants to give back his knowledge to society. With his active role with Professional bodies like CSI, IMC, BMA, AIMA, CII, he had organized many National and Internation conferences, during 2023/ 2024, he organized three conferences two for AIMA in IIT Bombay and one for IMC at Jio Convention centre.

Prof Agrawal immensely contributed to Professional body, Computer Society of India as National President during 2011-12 and Bombay Management Association as President during 2016-17. He is founder chairman of CSI Mumbai Chapter for CIO Club first in India in year 1998.

With his steering contribution and excellence in leadership, BPCL, received numerous National and International awards, worth mentioning, Delphi International award 2001, NASSOCOM Best corporate in Energy Sector award, CSI best IT implementation award 2013. He has privileged to delivered many talks at National and International conferences.

He is founder President of Computer Society of India’s CIO Club during 1999 to 2008 and hold position of SEARCC President during 2011. For his vast contribution to IT industry, CSI had bestowed upon him with CSI Fellowship award in year 2005.

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: April 25, 2026 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 6 assignments out of the total 8 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

Please note that assignments encompass all types (including quizzes, programming tasks, and essay submissions) available in the specific week.

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Bombay .It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.
