ABOUT THE COURSE:

Educational assessment involves systematically collecting and utilizing data on students' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs to evaluate their learning. Effective evaluation processes can significantly enhance the quality of student learning by improving curricula and instructional methods. Assessments are a crucial tool for teachers in guiding student learning, and they play a vital role in motivating students to engage in their studies. It is well accepted that assessment drives students’ learning. Enhancing the quality of assessments is a foundational step in improving educational outcomes.

In India, engineering programs must adhere to the guidelines set by the AICTE and obtain accreditation from the NBA. These programs are required to follow the Outcome Based Education (OBE) framework as mandated by AICTE, NBA, UGC, and NAAC. It is essential for these programs to achieve both the Program Outcomes, established by the NBA, and the Program Specific Outcomes, determined by individual departments. These outcomes are complemented by Course Outcomes for each course, emphasizing a comprehensive educational approach.

Courses typically span one semester and vary significantly in content and focus. The core components of any course are the "course outcomes," "instruction," and "assessment," which must be aligned to ensure the successful achievement of learning outcomes. This alignment involves identifying course outcomes based on a selected taxonomy of learning, designing assessments that effectively measure these outcomes, and delivering instruction that prepares students for success in assessments.

This course aims to equip the faculty with the necessary resources to create well-designed assignments aligned with course outcomes. Courses such as TALE, NATE, OBEA, or their equivalents serve as prerequisites, providing foundational knowledge essential for this endeavor.
