Animal Transgenesis: Principles and Methods

By Prof. Himanshu Kumar   |   IISER Bhopal
Learners enrolled: 2791   |  Exam registration: 616
ABOUT THE COURSE:

Transgenesis is the process of introducing changes into the genome of an organism to create a transgenic organism. Transgenic animals are valuable for fundamental studies of biological phenomena and have significant relevance in the development of highly specific therapeutics and biologics. The technology for creating transgenic mice has evolved rapidly, progressing from traditional recombination methods to modern CRISPR-Cas9-mediated techniques.

In this course, I will discuss the principles and methods of animal transgenesis, with a particular focus on mice

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Final year BS/BSc students studying subjects related to animal/human, BVSc, MBBS, MS/MSc students studying subjects related to animal/human, MVSc, and PhD students.

PREREQUISITES: For doing the course is that students/candidates should have good basic knowledge of "Molecular Biology", "Biochemistry", "Genetic Manipulation/Genetic engineering", and "Immunology".
