ABOUT THE COURSE:
Projects are the modus operandi of implementing organizational strategy and achieving strategic goals and objectives. Its importance is well-acknowledged and pervasive in the business world such as construction, engineering, mining, hi-tech, electronics, logistics, defense forces, product development, R&D, and so on. Project management has developed to the point where it is a professional discipline having its own body of knowledge and skills. In order to achieve business excellence, it is necessary to develop expertise in project planning, executing, evaluating, and managing projects. The course would help the academics as well as practicing managers and professionals to learn modern project management tools and techniques, scheduling of activities, resources and cost; and enhance their skills in expediting projects by prudently crashing certain activities. It would also provide them a holistic view of project management covering among others project risk and quality management, procurement and contract management, communication management, developing leadership skills and managing PM team, project performance evaluation, project audit and closure. The course would help the participants to apply Project Management knowledge in real life situation.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Management and Engineering students (MBA, BE/ B.Tech, ME/ M.Tech),academics, practicing managers and professionals at various levels;Commerce, Cost and Chartered Accountancy, and related disciplines.

PREREQUISITES: Must be a graduate in management, engineering, science, commerce, or equivalent degree

INDUSTRY SUPPORT: All organizations be it Government or non- Government, profit or non-profit, business or charity, manufacturing or service, utility or IT, military and others need Project Management for planning, financing, implementation, evaluation, and control of projects to accomplish their long- term goals and objectives of their organizations.

Instructor bio

Prof. Sanjib Chowdhury

IIT Kharagpur
Prof. Sanjib Chowdhury is currently a full-time Visiting Professor at VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur in the areas of 1. Strategic Management, and 2. Operations Management. He has over 40 years of work experience including 6 years in academics and 34 years in two major oil companies in India and Kuwait in the cross-functional areas of: Strategic and Corporate Planning, Business Performance Improvement, Optimization of operations and processes, Project Management, and HR and General Management. He is the recipient of "Kuwait Gulf Oil Company's Ideal Employee Award", "ONGC Chairman's Award", "ONGC Director's Award" to mention a few, and had held several responsible positions in these organizations. Based on his work experience, he has solely authored a book titled "Optimization and Business Improvement studies in Upstream Oil and Gas Industry", published by John Wiley & Sons Inc., New Jersey, USA, Aug 2016. He holds B. Tech. (Hons.), M. Tech., and Ph. D. degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and published several technical papers in journals of repute.

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: 
21 September 2024 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 6 assignments out of the total 8 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kharagpur .It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
