ABOUT THE COURSE:
The course on Strategic Sourcing describes and offers insights on the transformation from functional sourcing or purchasing to strategic sourcing. It will be useful for particiapants to understand:
• Dramatic change of purchasing into world class supply management
• Various strategic decisions for outsourcing, supplier selection, evaluation and development.
• To understand the role of pricing, cost management and contracts with suppliers
• The role of communications, electronic exchanges, global markets and Internet in sourcing process design

Instructor bio

Prof. Arshinder kaur

IIT Madras
Prof. Arshinder Kaur has more than 15 years of academic experience and has been teaching courses in the area of operations and supply chain management. Arshinder’s doctoral work (PhD thesis from IIT Delhi) on the topic ‘Supply Chain Coordination’ was accepted as a Highly Commended Award Winner of the 2008 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award. Her research has appeared in refereed journals (more than 40 articles) such as Int. Trans. In Operational Research, Annals of Operations Research, Omega, Int. J. of Production Economics, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Journal of Cleaner Production, Benchmarking: An Int. J., J. of Knowledge Management, and Int. J. of Logistics Research and Application, among others. She has got sponsored projects from the agencies like DST, India, Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC)- GCRF, UKRI, and exploratory research funds from IIT Madras. She has coordinated many continuing education and training programs for faculty and industry like Daimler, HAL, Areva, GMMCO, etc. She has been visiting University of Passau and Hof University (under Erasmus-Mundus), Germany as guest faculty. She has got Honorary Appointment as a Key Technology Partner Visiting Fellow at University of Technology Sydney in UTS Business School, Australia in May 2017. She has initiated Joint Doctoral Programs with foreign universities. She has been contributing as an Assessor for Australia Research Council (ARC).

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: 27 April 2024 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Madras .It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
