ABOUT THE COURSE:
This introductory course on Sports Psychology is packaged covering the key elements vital for sports and performance. Targeted for athletes, coaches, trainers, support staff etc, it orients participants to sports psychology , the careers opportunities , how to be in performance zone and apply psychological skills for performance. equips and ensures that one can unleash their potential. which can be capitalized on to enhance sports performance. INTENDED AUDIENCE: The course will bring out the importance of sports psychology to students, athletes, coaches, sports science professionals, sports enthusiasts and general population. The psychological strategies important for sports can be used to achieve performance in any domain. There is a fine balance of theoretical and practical aspects of sports psychology in the course to provide practical applications with academic basis and meet the need of learning in the participants.

Developing a champion mindset for competition- Flow state and competitive mindset.

Week 3: 
Psychological Skills Training (PST) I- Introduction to PST, Goal setting, Effectiveness of goal setting, strategies to develop goal setting
for individuals and teams.

Psychological skills training II- Imagery, Designing an imagery program

Week 5: 
Power of communication and mindfulness in sports understanding communication and strategies to build communication. Building mindfulness and resilience in sports

Prof. Chaitanya Sridhar

Private Consultant
Prof. Chaitanya is a Holistic Sport and Performance Psychologist, working in the Sports Industry to help athletes achieve their top performance for more than two decades. She has worked with Sports Personnel from various disciplines with several elite athletes including International and Olympic medallists. She has a doctorate (PhD) from the University of Western Australia. Her doctorate research was on emotional management in cricket. She is also in advanced Training to become a Jungian Analyst in Analytical Psychology. She is the advisor for Indian Sport Psychology Association (INSPA). She is passionately involved with the Rehabilitation of Captive Elephants and is the Visionary Founder of AANE – a group which champions elephant welfare. She is a Tedx speaker bridging the Sport and Elephant lessons. Prof. Sridhar is a Consultant with Sports Academies including Inspire Institute of Sports (IIS-JSW Sports) that supports India’s Medal Prospects at the Elite Level. She is first Woman Sports Psychologist at the Indian Premier League (IPL) amidst the COVID bio-bubble for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Franchise for the IPL’20. She worked as a Junior Scientific Officer at Sports Authority of India at the beginning of her career. She has wide teaching experience and has been a Visiting Faculty with Jain (Deemed- to-be-University) for 5 years. She regularly conducts camps, workshops and delivers guest lectures at Academic Institutions and Sporting Organisations such as NCA (National Cricket Academy) and BFI (Boxing Federation of India).


Prof. Nivedita Rajan

Prof. Nivedita Rajan is an Asst Professor Psychology with over 12 years of experience in academia and over 20 years of experience as a Consultant Sports Psychologist. She works as an Asst Professor of Psychology Mt Carmel College, Autonomous, Bangalore serving as adjunct faculty for Post Graduate programs and also visiting faculty for Jain (Deemed-to-be-University) and PES University. She is pursuing PhD in Psychology with specialization domain in Sports Psychology. She holds an MPhil Psychology and a Masters in Clinical Psychology. She also holds a Post Graduate degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations. Nivedita has been a reputed basketball player and played at highest level in the country her time and she brings to the table her sporting experiences as a sports psychologist. Nivedita has worked as a Consultant Sports Psychologist for various sports academies and independently working with elite athletes from different sports for the past 20 years till present. Currently Head Sports Psychologist at Elevate Performance and associated with Nudge Consulting Pvt Ltd as Psychologist. Worked with Prakash Padukone Badminton academy for more than 10 years as Sports Psychologist.


Prof. Priyanka Prabhakar

Prof. Priyanka has over 11 years of industry experience in the field of psychology. She holds an M.Sc (Psychology) degree with clinical specialization from Montfort College, Bangalore and M.Phil (Psychology) from Jain (Deemed to be University). She has cleared her State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) for Lectureship. She has worked at Sports Authority of India as a Sports Psychologist. She has worked extensively with the Indian Hockey Men & Women’s Teams during Rio Olympics 2016 & Tokyo Olympics 2020 respectively. She is the first woman psychologist to have travelled abroad with the Indian Women’s Hockey Team as a Team Psychologist. She has the experience of working with many elite athletes and Olympians for prestigious events like Asian Games, Common Wealth Games etc. Prof. Priyanka works as a Guest faculty for Sports Psychology at Jain (Deemed to be University), Sports Authority of India (SAI) and SportzNext Education Institute. She works as a psychology consultant with Nudge Sports Private Limited. She has graduated as a Facilitator in Systemic theory and practice in Family constellation from Spanda Asia and Ochre Ireland. She has completed TA101 in Transactional Analysis from TA Study Circle Madras.

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: 28 April 2024 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 6 assignments out of the total 8 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Madras. It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
