Petroleum Formation Evaluation

By Prof. Neetish Kumar Maurya, Prof. Sayantan Ghosh   |   IIT(ISM) Dhanbad
Learners enrolled: 333   |  Exam registration: 28
ABOUT THE COURSE:

This course offers an in-depth exploration of various formation evaluation tools such as Mud-Logs and Cuttings, Gamma Ray, Resistivity, Porosity, and other logs. Participants will gain comprehensive insights into open-hole log interpretation methods, enabling them to evaluate formation rock and fluid type, porosity, reservoir thickness, water and hydrocarbon (oil & gas) saturation.

The course includes practical demonstrations using industry standard software, allowing attendees to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Case studies will be discussed to provide practical context and enhance understanding. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to accurately determine the volume of hydrocarbons in the reservoir and assess its potential to flow through the rock into the wellbore.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: UG students of Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, and working profession of oil and gas industry

PREREQUISITES: Knowledge of reservoir rock and fluid properties are desired. Understanding of basic Petroleum Geology courses will be helpful but not required.

INDUSTRY SUPPORT: ONGC, Oil India Limited, Essar Oil and Gas, Reliance, and other upstream oil and gas companies
