ABOUT THE COURSE:
Big Data analytics has been recognised as one of the key elements of Industry 4.0 because it offers insightful information for managing smart factories. Big Data and current industrial revolution have the potential to optimise processes and cut down on resource consumption, which will be crucial for achieving sustainable development. The course is broken up into twelve weeks, and each week conclusion includes an exercise to test and sharpen your skills. The lectures would walk the students over the fundamental syntax and operations, as well as the key Python numerical and visualisation libraries. These skills will be put to use in hands-on activities that involve loading a dataset from the steel industry and creating algorithms for data aggregation. While understanding the concepts through case studies, the learners would be able to load, work, and visualize real-time useful data.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Students of all Engineering and Science disciplines.

PREREQUISITES: The student should have completed two semesters of UG Engineering or Science program.

Prof. Deepu Philip

IIT Kanpur
Deepu Philip is a faculty of Industrial & Management Engg. Department and Design Programme of IIT Kanpur. He works in the area of Production and Operations, Systems Simulation, Product Life Cycle Management, Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Systems Engineering. He holds bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering with his doctorate in Industrial & Management Engineering from MSU Bozeman. He has both academic and industrial experience with leading organizations of the world. He has experience in designing and implementing complex system of systems in different fields including defense, aviation, fertilizer, strategic chemical plants, transportation, banking, automation, health care, energy, and communication.


Prof. Amandeep Singh Oberoi

Dr. Amandeep Singh is working asResearch Scientist in the Mechanical Engineering Department, and Design Program, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He holds PhD degree from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, and a bachelor degree in Production Engineering. Dr. Singh has ten years of industrial and academic experience. His research interests are Sustainable Manufacturing Processes and Systems, Simulation of Manufacturing Systems, Product Design and Manufacturing, Applied Ergonomics and Engineering Metrology. He has traveled in countries like US, Canada, and Australia to present his research in various international conferences organized by reputed bodies like CIRP and IEOM. His research is also published in various international reputed journals.


Prof. Prabal Pratap Singh

Dr. Prabal Pratap Singh is a Senior Project Engineer at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. As part of his doctoral research at the Department of Industrial & Management Engineering, he specialized in Data Science and conducted his dissertation research in counterterrorism, peace, and conflict studies. His works on Data Sciences and Counterterrorism have been published & presented at prestigious international journals and conferences. In 2014, he earned a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. He earned a Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from PDPM IIIT D&M Jabalpur in 2016 by researching Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer-Aided Process Planning (CAPP), and Optimization Techniques. He received the Best Paper Award for his work in CAD and Counterterrorism.

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: 29 October 2023 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kanpur .It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
