The value of writing, one of the four language skills, has never waned. Many people, although having excellent verbal talents, struggle to demonstrate their writing abilities. Because writing reflects a writer even when he is not there and has no room for interpretation, mastering this craft is essential. The purpose of this writing course is to familiarise students with the nuances of effective writing so that they can better understand the subtle art of writing. It allows them to write with clarity, precision, and subtlety to express their ideas on various occasions while considering the concepts of appropriateness and accuracy.

SUPPORT INDUSTRY : Can be useful to all major companies, such as L&T, BHEL, NBCC, NTPC, WIPRO, INFOSYS, besides educational institutes.

Instructor bio

Prof. Binod Mishra

IIT Roorkee
Dr Binod Mishra, Professor of English at IIT Roorkee, has served as a faculty in various reputed institutions, published more than 100 papers in esteemed journals, and presented papers in at least 60 national and international repute conferences. Besides, he has published 25 books (18 edited and 07 authored) on various aspects of the English language and literature. One of his books, entitled Communication Skills for Engineers and Scientists (6th reprint, published from Prentice Hall, India), is used as a textbook and reference book in many reputed colleges and universities. He is also credited with two poetry collections, namely Silent Steps and Other Poems (2011) and Multiple Waves (2017). Associated with several literary bodies, Prof. Mishra is also on the editorial advisory board of many reputed journals and BoS members of several universities. He was elected twice as Editor-in-Chief of Indian Journal of English Studies (IJES) for six years; he presently holds the position of Vice-Chairman, Association for English Studies of India (earlier IAES). Prof. Mishra has received numerous prestigious awards, including AIMS International Distinguished Service Award, 2008 (in Indian Business Academy, 29 December, New Delhi), AIMS International Outstanding Editor Award, 2009 (in IIM Bangalore, 21 December 2009) and “Excellence in World Poetry Award” on 5th January 2010 by International Poets Academy, Chennai, India. In 2020, the International Sufi Centre in Bangalore honoured him with a Citation of the Brightest Honour and named him among 25 Indian English Poets for their contributions to communal harmony and cosmic humanism.

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: 27 March 2022 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 3 assignments out of the total 4 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Roorkee.It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
