The National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (NIRT), Chennai is one of the premier institutes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Health Research (DHR) of Govt. of India. It is an internationally reputed institution for Tuberculosis (TB) research and a WHO Collaborating Centre for TB Research and Training. The online course for doctors “Manage TB” is an initiative to address this felt need of sensitizing doctors both in public and private sector to the standards of care and the new guidelines and developments in the modern management of TB. The course has been designed keeping in mind the busy schedule of practicing Physician. We believe that this is the first online course of this type in India and we are confident it will enable practicing doctors to keep themselves abreast of current developments and best clinical practices in the management and control of this disease.

We have successfully conducted this course three times in  August-October 2018, February- April 2019, August-October 2019. A total of 4792 participants have enrolled. We have received favorable feedback on the course from the participants. We are now in advanced stage of planning for the fourth run of the course starting in February 2020. MBBS graduates and Medical students are eligible to enroll for the course. We hope that this online 8-week Manage TB course will benefit doctors treating TB patients and medical students and help them to offer care of a higher order to their patients.


INTENDED AUDIENCE: We expect that this course to be very useful to Doctors in their day to day practice to diagnose and treat 
                                        TB patients according to recommended standards.
PRE-REQUISITES :        MBBS degree from a recognized university and UG Medical MBBS students

Course certificate

• The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
• The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
• Date and Time of Exams: 26th April 2020, Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.
• Registration url: Announcements will be made when the registration form is open for registrations.
• The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.
• Please check the form for more details on the cities where the exams will be held, the conditions you agree to when you fill the form etc.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE:
• Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 6 assignments out of the total 8 assignments
 given in the course. 
• Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100
• Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=12.5/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 37.5/75. 
• If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 50/100.
• Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Madras. It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.
• Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
