The course will provide basic knowledge of Immunology for UG students in the field of Life Science and Biotechnology. The course introduces students to a wide range of topics in immunology starting from cells of immune system, innate and adaptive immune systems, humoral immunity, antibody structure and function, basic immunological techniques, autoimmunity, hypersensitivity and vaccine production. The course is well balanced with the basics of immunology as well as advanced topics delivered easily for UG students in particular.

Instructor bio

Prof. Sudip Kumar Ghosh

IIT Kharagpur
Prof. Sudip Kumar Ghosh is a Professor and former Head of theDepartment of Biotechnology and Prof-in-Charge, Advanced Laboratory for Plant Genetic Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. With a Bachelor degree in Chemistry major and Master degree in Biochemistry, Dr. Ghosh joined the Department of Biochemistry, Bose Institute, as a PhD student in Biochemistry. After his doctoral studies, he did his post doctorate from Harvard University, Boston, USA specializing in Immunology and Molecular Cell Biology. He was a visiting scientist in Harvard University, Boston, USA and visiting faculty in Boston University, Boston, USA. He has joined IIT kharagpur in the year 2000. He is teaching Immunology and Immunotechnology to B.Tech and M. Tech Students respectively since 2001 at the Department of Biotechnology, IIT Kharagpur. Prof. Ghosh has acquired theoretical knowledge, technical skill and research experience in the fields of Cell and Molecular Biology, Immunology and Biochemistry. He is a fellow of West Bengal Science Academy.


Prof. Agneyo Ganguly

Prof. AgneyoGanguly is an Assistant Professor in Department of Biotechnology, IIT Kharagpur since 2013 and is teaching Immunology for UG students for last 5 years. Dr. Agneyo Ganguly did his PhD in Biochemistry from Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB, CSIR), Kolkata in 2008. Dr. Ganguly did his postdoctoral research in Biozentrum, Switzerland (2008-2011) and University of Muenster, Germany (2011-2013) and has several publications in International peer reviewed journals.

Course certificate

•The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
•The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: 20 December 2020, Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm
•Registration url: Announcements will be made when the registration form is open for registrations.
• The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.
•Please check the form for more details on the cities where the exams will be held, the conditions you agree to when you fill the form etc.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE:
• Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course. 
• Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100
•Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. 
•If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.
• Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kharagpur. It will be e-verifiable at nptel.ac.in/noc.
•Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
